Grateful, Month 2, Day 11 and 12
Sep. 12th, 2011 09:27 pmOn the 11th, I was grateful to be able to go to sleep early. Sooooooooo tired....
Today, I am grateful for fish. Weeks ago, Amy found out from a local oldtimer that there's a fish hatchery in one of the local tribal lands north of here that sells salmon dirt cheap after they've been milked for eggs and sperm. Guess where we went this morning? We came home with 6 fish for 6 bucks, weighing in at a whopping 32 POUNDS. They had part of their heads chopped off so that the fishery could retrieve locator tags placed as hatchery fry years ago. IT took hours and a couple of stomach lurches from the smell, but in the end we have 22 pounds of edible salmon and a butt load of scraps that will get cooked and made into cat food. A good day indeed!
Oh, and the hot weather broke! Bonus!
